I love celebrating the seasons… doing little things around the house to make the holidays and birthdays special, significant. It’s certainly looked different in different seasons of our life, but it’s one thing I have tried to keep a constant, even in the hard times. Grief needs beauty too.
When I was at Target last week, I had to restrain myself from buying up ALL of the valentine’s things even though we were still a good month out. The kids thought I was a little crazy, but hey… if there’s one thing I’ve learned shopping at Target, you have to snatch up the good stuff in the dollar spot before it’s gone. And why not move from Christmas right into Valentine’s… the house was seeming awfully empty without the decorations anyways.
Here are 3 of my favorite finds!
01 / Garlands from Threshold : So these weren’t in the dollar section, but they are on sale this week. I got the I Love You Banner and the Valentine’s Tassel Banner. I love the quality of the Threshold products… I’m hoping to use these for years to come… note: at our Target, these were in the Threshold home decor section towards the back of the store. They also may be on one of the displays at the end of the aisle.
02 / Bubble Glassware. : How awesome is this pitcher and candy dish from the dollar section! I think they were $5 and $3 respectively. They also had juice glasses in various shades of pink and clear. Very anthropologie-ish, right? I feel like these are one of those things that are going to go fast…
03 / DIY Valentine Kits : Forget frantic Pinterest crafts the day before Valentine’s at school… I found these little DIY kits in the dollar section, again. $3 for 30 valentines/erasers. Can’t beat that price. And feeling pretty proud/happy that I don’t have to think twice about school valentines in a few weeks…
And while you’re in the dollar spot, there are so many cute little garlands and banners and chalkboards and table runners… happy shopping 🙂
