Temperatures dropped and it feels like fall really came over the past week… crisp in the mornings and all the trees with just a tinge of color waiting to burst aflame.
Here are three things I’m currently loving in this season…
01/ natalie jean’s pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. while the blog these came from is no longer in public existence… thankfully, I was able to find this recipe elsewhere and mix up a big batch yesterday. they are an annual favorite of ours. these cookies are just the right amount of pumpkin and spice and cake-like texture. I like to cook half and freeze the rest of the dough in balls for popping in the oven whenever we feel the cookie urge.
PUMPKIN CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
Bake at 400 degrees F for 10-12 minutes, or until the middle of the cookie feels firm to the touch.
(yields 3-4 dozen depending on your cookie size)
2/ the dark by lemony snicket. while this isn’t a “fall” book or even halloween themed… Penny brought it home from the school library and we’ve read it over and over ever since. it’s spooky without being overly scary, and just might help if you have a little person afraid of the dark. i’m always a sucker for a book with good illustrations and interesting text, and this one is spot on. check it out…

The tobacco candle by the same company is also amazing. And the Fireside candle at Anthro. Will have to try this one!
