Happy December 1st to you! Don’t have a single decoration up and have all of 2 gifts in my possession… but we have the Christmas music going strong.
Here are a few favorites :
01 // Sara Groves | O Holy Night : There’s something so innocent and earnest about Sara’s voice… and she’s a pretty wonderful songwriter too.
favorite track : to be with you
02 // Sufjan Stevens | Songs for Christmas : This is just a happy album. Sometimes contemplative, sometimes silly, but always nice background music.
favorite track : come thou fount
03 // Over the Rhine | Snow Angels : Going to be honest… this is not your typical Christmas album. It’s a bit mournful, somber; but I think sometimes at Christmas, some of us need that… amidst all of the other fluffy over-the-top happy songs bombarding us. This was one of my favorites a few years ago and continues to be one I return to…
favorite track : we’re gonna pull through
BONUS : for old-time Christmas classics, we can’t stop playing Pandora’s Bing Crosby (Holiday) Radio. She & Him (Holiday) and Vince Guaraldi Trio too 🙂

You hit all my favorites. I would add “The Bewildering Light” by So Elated, “Love Shall Be Our Token” by High Street Hymns, and “Advent Songs” by Sojourn.

This is real helpful. I was actually wondering the other day what music you play at your home since you have mentioned on your blog that you play music often. I’d be curious one day to hear what you play throughout the year for your family!
