In case you haven’t guessed by now, music is a pretty major part of our life around here. We almost always have it playing, around the house, in the car… Here are three albums I’ve had on repeat the past six weeks…
Native Dream Kin by Joseph // Not only do these sisters have great voices and harmonies, their poetic lyrics have spoken to me at various points as I’m driving and singing along… “Give me grace and give me peace / Through my pain and suffering / Be a constant fire that draws me higher / Burn up the despair that’s been sinking me / Burn up the despair that’s been sinking me” // beautiful prose and soulful melodies. Love these girls.
Songs from the Valley by Sandra McCracken // It’s no secret, I’m a big fan of anything coming from Sandra. There is something particularly special about this album. It’s as if she penned lyrics from the depths of my soul when I was walking through my own valley seven years ago… words crafted so achingly perfect. The sigh of lament in a broken world, that remains firmly grasping to God. The refrain that : “If it’s not ok, than this is not the end / And this is not ok / So I know, this is not / This is not the end.”
States by The Paper Kites // This is just an album that’s perfect for playing in the background while you work and play and drive around. Lush ambient music, with a touch of folk. Especially love the first and last track, I Done You So Wrong.
